Barons Market opening in North Park, hiring 30
SAN DIEGO — Point Loma-based Barons Market said it had finalized a deal to move into a former Fresh & Easy location in North Park, with the grocer set to open what will be its seventh location soon, the San Diego Business Journal reported.
The new location, at 3231 University Ave., will join three other San Diego County stores in Point Loma, Rancho Bernardo and Alpine, according to a news release from the company.
The most recent opening of a Barons Market location was in Murrieta earlier this year.
“Barons Market and North Park are a match made in food heaven,” said Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing for Barons, in a news release. “We stock our shelves with good food, craft beer and locally grown produce – all things that the North Park community values. As a family-owned business founded in San Diego, this location feels like coming home.”
Barons will work with Architect John Ziebarth and Interior Designer Julie Dugas of Studio H2G to transition the 15,000 square-foot location. Barons plans to add approximately 30 jobs to the community with this location.
The Fresh & Easy was one of eight county locations closed last year as Fresh & Easy shuttered all of its locations across the country.
